Chowder, Lobster & Little Italian – Our Boston Food Tour
We ate our way through Boston with a lineup that included clam chowder in bread bowls, buttery lobster rolls, and handmade pasta in the North End. This post is a delicious recap of the must-try bites from our trip—and where to find them.

Let’s talk food. Because apparently, no trip to Boston is complete without indulging in the local flavors—and we went all in.
First up: we had what might be the best thing I’ve eaten all year: a hot butter lobster roll. We stopped at Quincy Market and made a beeline for the famous stalls. Forget the cold mayo versions—this was pure, rich lobster meat drenched in drawn butter and tucked into a toasted, split-top bun. We got ours at Boston Chowda Co., and it lived up to the hype.
Next, clam chowder in a bread bowl from Legal Seafoods in Braintree, MA. Creamy, savory, and packed with clams, the chowder hit the spot, especially after sitting in a bit of rain and cloudy 60F temps during the games. The sourdough bread bowl added that satisfying chew that made it a full meal. My son opted for the lobster bisque that was maybe the best I'd ever had, and the wife and I made sure we split another buttered lobster roll. Until your wallet runs dry, you can't ever have too many of these!
On one of our later dinner evenings, we Uber'd over to a supper club called Capo on the South side of Boston near our hotel. Parking around this area is a bit of a nightmare for those of us used to every place having its own lot. This was all street parking and the Uber just made it much easier for the 10 minute ride. The restaurant was really busy, pretty loud, and had a dinner out with friends feel to it. Low light in the place and tons of nicely dressed young people made me think it was the spot to be before going out that night. We were all dog-tired from the 3 lacrosse games we'd just watched, so we enjoyed some really good ricotta ravioli and a couple different wood-fired pizzas all while just letting the roar of the restaurant surround us.
Boston fed our stomachs as well as our souls. If you’re planning a trip, come hungry—and make room for everything.
